Wishing You A Merry Christmas and Happy New Year In 2016

December 24, 2015 by Michael Lawrence Leave a Comment

It’s the most wonderful time of the year and we wanted to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year in 2016!

As we have said before, we couldn’t have made it in CR for 10 years without you! While it is difficult to be away from most of you at this time of year, we know we are with each other in thought and in spirit.

We hope you are resting in the joy of the Lord this Christmas. God’s promise of peace and joy to all men is ours in Christ all the time! May it especially be present in your heart at this time. God loves you tremendously, Christmas shows us that beyond the shadow of a doubt. God is near so give Him any stress you may feel and simply rest in His faithfulness!

May you be richly blessed as you remember the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ during this Christmas. Unto to us, a Son has been given… that is good news of great joy for all people indeed!

Thank You To The People Who Make This Ministry Possible!

Giving Thanks on Thanksgiving

As missionaries, people often ask us about the sacrifice it must have taken to move our family to a foreign country to serve God. In the course of the conversation, they usually say something like “I could never do that”. This often makes us feel uncomfortable for a few reasons, one of which is that it feels like we are being put on a pedestal for our obedience to God’s call, kind of like we are a hero or something. While we understand and appreciate the sentiment, we don’t see ourselves in that way.

We are doing what we do on the mission field by the grace of God. We wanted to take this opportunity to express that, in our minds, those of you who stand beside us are living legends! You know who you are! You have chosen to quietly support the work of God in Jaco through your prayers and financial giving. You are the ones who are behind the scenes making what we do in Costa Rica possible.

While we often get recognition for the work done as missionaries, we recognize that we could never do it without you standing beside us!

So We Want To Say “Thank You”!

  • Thank You for continuing to pray and support us while we accomplish ministry work in another country for the past 10 years.
  • Thank You for making sacrifices in order to provide for our needs.
  • Thank You for making it possible for us to pastor a church of people in Jaco who are so thankful for our shepherding.
  • Thank You for your love towards God, towards our family, and towards the body of believers in Jaco whom many of you have never met.

We pray each of you is richly blessed this Thanksgiving and Christmas Season, just as you have been a tremendous blessing to us!

With Much Love and Thankfulness,
The Lawrence Family

8 Things The Mission Field Has Taught Me Over The Past 10 Years

Mission Field Outreach in Costa Rica

In September, we celebrated the 10th Birthday of our Church Plant, Calvary Chapel Jaco (The Upper Room Jaco). 10 Years!!! Can you believe that? The last 10 years have gone by so fast… and yet it also feels like it has been forever!

Many of you may not realize that CCJ was the first missionary planted church in Jaco. The fact we are still here is a testament to the faithfulness of God. You learn a lot when you’ve been on the mission field for 10 years. Here are just a few of the lessons the mission field has taught me.
